Commemorating the Death Centenary of Lokmanya Tilak(1-Aug-1920 to 1-Aug-2020)
- The Modern Day Samartha Ramdas Swami
Today is Lokmanya Tilak’s 100th Death Anniversary. Hundred years ago, on 1st August 1920, Karmayogeshwar Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, the Architect of modern India, breathed his last.
In this first playlist (SanUtsav (Festival) Series: Playlist 7: Lokmanya Tilak – The Modern Day Ramdas Swami), dedicated to Lokmanya Tilak, we focus on the tremendous similarities in the personalities and functioning of these two monumental figures – Samartha & Lokmanya, who have shaped the history of our nation. Both these renunciate Karmayogis had devoted themselves entirely – body, mind & soul to the cause of Swarajya.
The Life & Teachings of Samartha Ramdas had such a great influence on Lokmanya that many believed it was Samartha Ramdas Swami Himself, who had come back once again to their rescue. Taking a new form, adapting to new conditions; He had returned to reclaim Swarajya, this time from the British instead of the Mughals.
These two Intellectual, Spiritual & Political Icons invoked the soul of the masses and made it thirst for Swarajya. They divinised this longing by restarting & reorganising festivals &Utsavs, so very inherent to the Indian spirit.
Both Samartha & Lokmanya believed that for Swarajya to flourish & prosper in every sense, the nation building youth had to be physically strong, mentally & emotionally resilient & at all times uphold the lofty spiritual ideals, that the Sanatan Dharma stands for.
Today, on the 100th Death Anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak, let us all pledge to work together to build the Swarajya of Lokmanya’s dreams.
