Part II explains why Lokmanya felt the pressing need to write a commentary on the Bhagvad Geeta.

The inquisitive nature of Tilak made him question all the major commentaries, expositions & translations, prevalent at the time, all of which advocated the path of renunciation for attainment of Moksha.

Taking up the intensive study of the Bhagvad Geeta and by extensive study of all important philosophical texts & scriptures, he challenged this thought & through Geeta Rahasya, advocated & propagated the path of Action, Karma Yoga, which was the need of the hour.
